Supported by Mercell, Sensorem Offers the Public Sector a Modern, Reliable Safety Alarm
Having an open dialogue with municipalities has been crucial for us to convey the value of our product and how it can meet their specific needs.
A flexible alarm that looks like a smartwatch - and can be customized to the user's needs. Sensorem’s safety alarm, which works anywhere and gives users more freedom, has been on the market for three years. Now, the company is turning its focus to the public sector.
– Safety alarms for family or personal use make up our largest customer base. Recently, municipalities and care homes have also started purchasing our products. Mercell’s platform and support have made it easier for us to track and bid on public contracts, says Gustaf Delemark, Sales Manager at Sensorem.
Sensorem’s flagship product is a smartwatch with an integrated safety alarm, especially popular with seniors. Unlike traditional stationary alarms, it works anywhere (even outdoors) and sends alerts primarily to family members, which reduces false alarms and supports greater independence for users.
– Users can stay more active and independent, live at home longer, and feel more comfortable going out, explains Gustaf Delemark, Sales Manager.
An invaluable partner
It’s been three years since the safety alarm launched, but only a year since Sensorem began focusing on working with municipalities.
– Initially, our focus was on private customers to build a strong, recognizable brand. Over the past year, we’ve also turned to the public sector, where Mercell has been an invaluable partner and a huge support in our efforts.
Gustaf explains that no one at Sensorem had prior experience with public procurement regulations or knowledge of how the tender and bidding process works.
– Mercell has given us support and valuable insights into the market. At first, I thought I’d need to learn a lot, but I realized that procurement is like any sales process. The key is keeping close communication, explaining your product, and understanding the customer’s needs.
Safety and significant cost savings
Sensorem’s safety alarm provides major relief for home care services, as alerts are initially sent to family members before reaching the alarm center if necessary. Family members also have the option to activate a geofence feature on the alarm watch, which is especially beneficial for individuals with dementia. The alarm triggers if the person moves outside a predefined area - a feature stationary alarms can’t offer.
– We’ve had positive feedback from several municipalities; many are interested in adopting new technology and finding solutions that enhance resident safety while also offering cost savings, says Gustaf.
Sensorem’s alarm watch is now also being used by staff in care facilities. It’s also being adopted for night shifts and workplaces with solo workers, where having a quick alert option is critical.
Valuable support and insights on public procurement
Through Mercell’s platform, Gustaf regularly receives notifications about new procurements, including key information and important dates. This makes navigating the public market much easier. The platform also provides access to past award decisions, allowing Sensorem to review winning bids, identify competition, and check pricing. But what factors are particularly important in the public sector?
– For us, maintaining a dialogue with municipalities has been crucial to demonstrate the value of our product and how it can meet their specific needs. Mercell has simplified communication by providing contact details for the right people, says Gustaf.
Sensorem’s safety alarm is now widely used across society, not just among seniors. It has been successfully implemented by care home staff and has quickly become an essential part of their daily work. The alarm is also used in workplaces with night shifts and solo workers, where being able to send a quick, easy alert is particularly valuable.
Considering additional platform features
Gustaf shares that the team at Sensorem is very satisfied with Mercell’s platform and finds it hard to suggest specific improvements. However, he sees potential in expanding how they use the platform, especially to take advantage of features that help streamline communication with key municipal contacts.
– With Mercell’s help, we’ve established a foothold in the public sector, and we see room to grow there. Our product not only improves safety for municipal residents but also enables significant cost savings.
